The importance of Vegan Food




Vegan food is important for a number of reasons, including:

  • Health benefits: Vegan diets have been linked to many health benefits, including a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer. They are also associated with lower body weight and a healthier body composition.

  • Environmental benefits: Animal agriculture is a major contributor to climate change, water pollution, and deforestation. By choosing vegan food, we can help reduce our impact on the environment.

  • Animal welfare: Veganism helps support not harming nor exploiting animals are for food. Animals raised for food are often subjected to cruel and inhumane treatment. By choosing vegan food, we can show compassion for animals and help to end animal suffering.

  • Personal values: Some people choose to eat vegan food because it aligns with their personal values of compassion, kindness, and sustainability.


If you are considering adopting a vegan diet, there are a few things you may want to keep in mind.


First, it is important to make sure that you are getting enough nutrients. Vegan diets can be very healthy, and it is important to make sure that you are getting enough of minerals and vitamins by eating from a variety of plant-based sources and colors. There are several vegan foods that are good sources of these nutrients, such as beans, lentils, tempeh, nuts, seeds, and leafy green vegetables and fruits.


Second, it is important to be prepared. When you first start eating vegan, it can be helpful to have a few go-to recipes that you know you like, even consider carrying with you, fresh ripe whole plant foods most all times. There are also a prolific number of vegan cookbooks and websites that can provide you with inspiration!


Finally, don't be afraid to ask for help. There are many resources available to help you make the transition to a vegan diet, professional support systems and coaches, like myself can all be helpful should you desire to learn more.
